November 3, 2004
Hello Friends:
1. Thanks
First of all, thanks to each of you who sent a birthday greeting. I received
over 100 emails and over 60 birthday cards. I had a wonderful birthday. And
thanks to all of you who came to see us at Silver Dollar City in Branson in
October. We did 32 shows there and folks seem to have a great time dancing or
just pattin' their foot. It was the 8th consecutive year for the boys and I to
be a part of the Great American Music Festival at Silver Dollar City in Branson.
2. Western Swing Cruise
Plans are coming together for our Western Swing Cruise in April, 2005. We
need each of you to give serious consideration to joining us April 22-28 for a
great time on the Carnival Cruise Line Ship "Ecstasy". My band and I will
playing each day for your dancing and listening pleasure. We also are planning
to have jam sessions, so bring your guitar, fiddle, jews harp or whatever you
play. Or just come and sing or listen. We will be in the Western Caribbean for 5
nights with two on-shore stops in Cozumel and Calica/Playa Del Carmen. Lots to
do both on the ship and on-shore. Great fun, food and fellowship. So please call
Village Tours in Wichita to make reservations. It is necessary that you make
reservations through Village Tours in order to be a part of all our private
performances on the ship. The phone number for Village Tours is 800-333-0312 or
316-721-4455.
3. Poncan Theatre
My band and I will be doing our annual concert at the Poncan Theatre in
Ponca City, OK on Friday night, November 12, 2004. Show time is 7:30pm. Call the
theater at 580-765-0943 for reservations or buy tickets at the door. This will
be my 14th consecutive year to perform at the beautiful Grand Ole Poncan
Theatre.
4. Herington, KS
Saturday November 13, 2004 is the date for the big Veterans Day Dinner and
Dance at the Community Center in Herington, Kansas. The dinner will be at 6pm
and the dance starts at 7:30pm. You must have a reservation for the dinner. So
call the Chamber of Commerce in Herington to make reservations.
5. Cowboy Christmas Ball - Yukon, OK
Be sure to mark you calender for the Cowboy Christmas Ball in Yukon, Oklahoma on
Friday, December 3, 2004. My band and I will be doing our best to make it a fun
evening of dancing and listening like they did in the old west to celebrate the
Christmas Season. So put on something cowboyish (or cowgirlish), if you have it,
and join us at the Czech Hall on Czech Hall Road in Yukon, Oklahoma on December
3, 2004. Western attire is not a requirement, but coming to have a good time
is!!
6. Brace Books, Ponca City, OK
On Thursday, December 9, 2004, folks in and around Ponca City will sure want to
come to Brace Books on North 14th for the annual "Singin' and Snackin' with
Martha and Les". Martha and I have been doing this for several years and folks
always have a good time tasting some of Martha's finest treats and joining me
for request night with me and my guitar. We will start at 6:30pm and carry on
for quite a spell.
7. Cowboy Christmas Ball - Winfield, KS
The Quail Valley Fun Barn is just that. Located on old 77 Hwy south of
Winfield, Kansas, it is certainly a fun place to be for all the music, dancing
or just eyeballing all the wonderful farm and ranch antiques. To me it is one of
the finest agriculture museums I have ever seen. And my band and I will be there
on Saturday, December 18, 2004 for the Cowboy Christmas Ball. For more
information and reservations, please call 620-221-1894.
Martha and I send our best wishes to you and your family. We hope you have a
wonderful Thanksgiving. And thanks for your support and friendship.
Les
